At Trike Systems, our understanding of data management is fundamental in our ability to analyze
customer requirements and design appropriate solutions. Applications such as content-management
systems, shopping-carts (e-stores), custom CRM solutions, client “private access” sites and
information directories all require a detailed understanding of the customer’s data and legacy
systems and the goals for the new development. Trike has the technical expertise and development
experience to craft custom solutions for any situation.
We believe that the customer is an integral component of the success of every website development project.
We offer our development customers secure access to our development/staging areas, allowing them
to watch as their site develops day-by-day. We believe that this kind of collaborative effort
produces a better product is less time.
Our portfolio of recent projects offers a look at some of our recent projects.
Trike Systems Inc is a privately-held corporation headquartered in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada ,
at the heart of Canada's Technology Triangle. Proximity to the world-renowned School of
Computer Science
at the University of Waterloo gives us access to the best new ideas in computing and information science.
About Our Technology
Trike Systems uses state-of-the-art software development technology from leaders in their
respective fields. These technologies are professional tools that allow our development
specialists to create full-featured, reliable software quickly and efficiently.
Most of our sites are developed with Macromedia ColdFusion as the server-side scripting engine
(also called an "application server"). In order to support legacy applications as well as new
developments, we have three separate servers running versions 4.5, 5 and the latest MX.
Many of our sites require the use of a database management system (DBMS) to store content or member
information. Trike Systems has selected Sybase's Adaptive Server Anywhere (ASA) as its preferred
DBMS. The ASA product is a production quality "industrial strength" DBMS that does not suffer from the problems
that plague many freeware or shareware DBMSs. It provides an excellent performance characteristic coupled with
advanced DBMS features that are normally available only in products costing significantly more -- and cost
savings here translate directly into cost savings for our customers.
On the client side, we use a mixture of DHTML, Javascript and Macromedia Flash. Every
client site has its own requirements, and so any client-side technology is evaluated in the context of a
specific task.
At present, our Network Operations Centre has three versions of ASA running: ASA 6, 7 and 8. Version 9
has just been released (as of July 2003) and will be added to the mix in due course.
Our core technology is Microsoft Windows running the IIS (Internet Information Server)
software. At present, we have two different environments in production: Windows NT Server V4
running IIS Version 4, and Windows 2000 Server running IIS version 5.
The Trike Systems Network Operations Centre (NOC) contains all of our production services. Our network
connectivity is via a fibre-optic connection to a regional provider that has multiple BGP connections to its
Tier-1 providers. Our storage systems are all RAID -based and backups of all production systems occur daily.
Our date centre has outstanding redundancy and reliability features.
